Two years ago CP trimmed down all the heavy bushes that lined the Welland Yard for miles - literally from one end to the other. And for two years I've been able to get some pics looking across and into the small yard. But the bushes are back this year with a vengeance, and slowly but surely are taking over once again. I had to climb onto the back of my car bumper just to clear the shrubbery in this shot. |

After two attempts - one at Brookfield Wye as the train crossed from CP to CN tracks, and again at Southern Yard on the return trip - thick clouds blocked the sunshine. Undeterred, I headed for one more try at Miller Road overpass, and the sun finally came out - literally as the train rounded the wye and came into view. I had just met fellow railfan Daniel at Southern Yard and he followed me to Miller Road. We both were totally second guessing as the sun stayed behind the clouds, and it sure looked like we weren't going to get a decent pic with the sun out. But our patience paid off. |
